"A Lady In Waiting Is Still Single"
I wish, I wish upon a star
That my prince will soon come from afar
He might ask me to let down my hair
Or tell me, out of all the girls - I am most fair
Maybe he will try to slip me on a shoe
And sweep me off my feet with a magic carpet too
I hope he teaches me how to ride his white horse
Or climb a pole with just a piece of cloth (like in Mulan, of course)
I want to get lost in his perfectly blue eyed gaze
Hopefully a true loves kiss will set his heart ablaze
Perhaps I'll sing him a sweet song in return
To make sure the waves won't put out his passion for me that so strongly burns
He better like my little friends of all shapes and sizes
Because I am a trophy better than all of his other prizes
I hope he will have no trouble finding me anywhere
Whether it is down under, way up high, or far far away over there
Because if he makes me wait too long
I might start singing a brand new song
I am just as strong, smart, and brave - you see?
I have finally realized, a knight in shining armor might not be for me
Sure, you were great in my dreams
But this nightmare seems to never end, and is ripping me at the seams
The idea I need a man to save me, is one that I bought
Which has wasted my time here waiting for me to rot
So I am going to let this warped dream of some Prince Charming free
But if any Warlocks, Jesters, or Handsome Stepbrothers are single.... Call me?
The End...
I wrote this poem because it sucked not having a significant other over all the holidays and I had just watched Tangled for the 5th time but there isn't anything that a golden retriever puppy can't cure...
