Day 2: Cool Pics

One of my new found favorite things to do to keep me occupied is photography and editing photos. My sophomore year of high school I had a poetry project that involved 25 poems accompanied by 25 illustrations to go along with each. I decided to go with a nature theme and to take my own pictures of flowers and nature just in my backyard. My art teacher was actually thoroughly impressed with my photos and it wasn’t until now that I got the iPhone, which in all seriously takes better pictures than any camera I have owned, to get back into it! I downloaded a Free App Instagram that edits the pictures and allows you to share your photos with everyone else who has the App and follow other ‘photographers’ who also have Instagram.
Today, or actually I should say yesterday because it is 3:29 am right now, I saw an advertisment on urbanoutfitters.com for a contest. The requirements are to simply to enter a photo that you took this summer while traveling or vacationing, tell a little bit about it, and the winner receives a shnazzy new camera. I told my sister (who will be referred to as 'B') to enter one of my photos so that I could enter another that I liked so that we would have better odds of winning. Since B is in one of the photos and she also loves photography I would absolutely share the camera with her!

This is the photo that I would enter. It was actually taken on Easter Sunday, but they don’t know the difference. I edited it the picture with another Free App ‘Color Effects’ on my iPhone. I just really think the coordinating tan and blue colors that my cousin and I are sporting and the effects are so interesting and different from the other entries that I have a shot of winning! But that’s just me.

This is the photo that my sister (left) is going to enter. I edited this picture with Instagram. This picture was actually taken on the grounds of my brothers rehabilitation center the weekend we were visiting him. When I had a facebook someone commented, “Was this picture taken in 1975?” I have to agree, I LOVE the retro look!

When B and I get together I think our creativity really thrives off one another for some reason. And no, we are not twins. We are actually 5 years apart and I will leave it up to you to figure out who is older... for now. Anyways, my sister and I enjoy a lot of the same things but when we get together I am honestly just more comfortable with her than any one else and our sense of style is funkier, our music is more eclectic, and our interests are more… interesting!

Right now my classes for the fall are scheduled for me to enter into the college of education. However, this summer I have been doing a lot of soul searching and thinking about my future and now I am completely unsure, once again, if being an elementary teacher is what I really want to do. My mom tells me its just better to graduate with a degree and then figure out what you want to do maybe later in life. I know what she means: get a real job, save up, and after a couple of years its going to be easy to do what you wanted to do – but only after you are really sure that is what you want to do. Because who at 19 truly knows what they're going to do. But I am so disturbed by the idea of just getting through college just for the sake of it. I want to do a little more exploring before I know what I am really good at and hopefully make a career at it. All I know is that I am a perfectionist at making mistakes, and I’m pretty sure I cant major in “Fucking Up” anywhere that I know of, so until then I am going to take cool pictures and stay away from the booze for 90 days…..
